Micky Hazard has suggested on Twitter that he was moved by Danny Rose’s tribute to Ryan Mason during Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw at Rochdale on Sunday.

The Spurs defender shouted “Ryan Mason” and kissed the camera after Harry Kane slotted an 88th-minute penalty for what looked like the winner.

It was a touching tribute to his former team-mate, who retired from football last week at the age of 26 after failing to recover from the head injury which he sustained in January 2017.

Mason had been on Tottenham’s books from the age of eight until 2016, when he joined Hull City.

And Lilywhites legend Hazard has praised left-back Rose for the gesture on Twitter.

Kane’s penalty was not enough to get Tottenham into the next round, however, as Steve Davies grabbed a last-minute equaliser for the League One outfit who booked a trip to Wembley in the process.

Mason scored four times in 70 appearances for the North Londoners and, having spent 18 years on their books, revealed on Sky Sports’ Soccer Am program on February 17 that he could consider a coaching role at his former club.
