Rangers suffered a blow in their bid to catch Celtic on Wednesday night.

Micky Gray has told TalkSPORT that he thinks Rangers are still behind Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title, but reckons Steven Gerrard’s men are improving all the time.
Rangers’ 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock on Wednesday night saw them slip to third place in the Scottish Premiership, while Celtic strengthened their lead at the top of the table with a 4-0 win over St. Mirren.
Celtic remain at the top of the division, opening up a three-point gap on Rangers who are now third, while Kilmarnock are in second – only a point behind Brendan Rodgers’ side, who still have a game in hand.
Gray went on loan to Celtic during the first half of the 2003-04 season from Sunderland and made 10 appearances in all competitions. He applauded the impact of Gerrard but is confident Celtic have enough to win the division.
“Steven Gerrard is an attraction for Rangers,” Gray said. “With no disrespect, would you have got Jermain Defoe at Rangers with Graeme Murty in charge? I don’t think so.
“What Steven has achieved so far in his short time at Rangers has been absolutely top class. Why would you not go to Rangers? Right now, it is exciting times. But I do think Rangers are still a little bit behind Celtic.”

Rangers had gone into the winter break with plenty of positivity, after beating Celtic for the first time since regaining their place back in the Scottish Premiership. It saw them move onto level points with the Hoops.
The Gers have finished in third place in the Scottish Premiership the last two seasons, and Gerrard will be hoping to improve on that come May – though Kilmarnock and Aberdeen continue to remain in the race.
