Micky Gray has suggested that Everton should have gone for Jamie Vardy last summer on the Jim White Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 24th April.

Everton were heavily linked with the Leicester City man, but didn’t get a deal over the line.

And Gray has suggested that Everton should move for the England international again this summer, as he would be the perfect addition for them.

The pundit said: “They need to bring in a striker who will get them the 20 goals they need. Someone like Jamie Vardy, who they should have broke the bank for Vardy in the summer, I don’t understand why they didn’t. He’s man made to play in their team.”

Everton are expected to invest heavily in their first-team squad again this summer, as they look to improve on their disappointing performance this season.

The Toffees are set to finish in mid-table, despite a huge amount of investment last year.

If Everton were to sign Vardy, he would surely replace Cenk Tosun as their main striker.

Vardy has scored 17 goals in 33 Premier League matches for Leicester this term, which means he has hit the back of the net more often than anyone in Everton’s squad.
