Wolves travel to Yorkshire to face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsbrough on Friday night.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Michael Gray has told Betfred that he believes his old side will earn a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsbrough on Friday night.
Championship league leaders Wolves have the chance to go seven points clear at the top of the second tier of English football, with the rest of the weekend’s action taking place over Saturday and Sunday.
Wolves come into the match after six straight wins were halted last time out with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Chris Coleman’s Sunderland at Molineux, with the Black Cats remaining in the bottom three.
However, Sheffield Wednesday have failed to win since November 4, drawing four and losing once, and Gray claims Wolves will win 2-0. He reckons Wolves are the Manchester City of the Championship, and claimed the Midlands club’s squad is good enough to survive Premier League relegation as it is.
“I think Wolves will win this one,” Gray said. “I think they’re fantastic, yes they had a bit of a blip against Sunderland, but I think Wolves will win this one 2-0.
“They’re playing football the proper way, some big changes in the summer. They’re flying, they’re my Man City of the Championship and I think they’ll absolutely romp it come the summer. Their squad is good enough to stay in the Premier League.”
Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal will serve a one-match ban after being sent to the stands on December 2 against Hull City, and will be without defender Tom Lees who has undergone groin surgery.
Santo has no fresh injury concerns, but will be concerned by Wednesday’s recent record against his side as the Yorkshire club have won eight of the last 12 meetings between the two teams.
