Sunderland and Leeds United will face each other in the Championship this evening.

Leeds United will return to action this evening when they take on Sunderland away from home at the Stadium of Light.

The Whites will head into the Championship game on the back of a goalless draw with Fulham at Elland Road in the league.

The West Yorkshire outfit kicked off their season with a 3-2 victory over Bolton Wanderers away from home at the Macron Stadium in the league.

A 4-1 victory over Port Vale at Elland Road in the first round of the EFL Cup followed, but then came two successive draws with Preston North End and Fulham at home.

The Black Cats got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season and are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship during the 2017-18 campaign.

Micky Gray, who started his professional club football career at Sunderland and had two different loan spells at Leeds from Blackburn Rovers, has predicted Simon Grayson’s side to pick up all three points from the encounter against Thomas Christiansen’s team.

“We are playing at the Stadium of Light, so I think I am just going to edge Sunderland’s way, this game ,” said Gray on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, August 18, 2017).

“I think it will be a tight game,” added Gray. “I certainly think there will be goals with your big man upfront. I think he will get himself on the scoresheet. I am going to go Sunderland to win 2-1.”
