Newcastle did a bit of business with West Bromwich Albion yesterday.

Former Newcastle United attacker Mick Quinn has given a tentative thumbs up to the club’s dealings with West Bromwich Albion.
Newcastle yesterday signed Salomon Rondon on loan for the season, and sent Dwight Gayle the other way.
Gayle was Newcastle’s top scorer in 2016/17 in the Championship, but he did not enjoy as much success in the Premier League.
Former forward Mick Quinn commented on the deal on Twitter, believing it to be a big shame that Gayle could not have been kept on, as he felt he could have forged a strong partnership with Rondon.
Gayle has had limited success at Newcastle but they probably feel he has given as much as he can, and wanted to try a different approach.
Rondon has international experience as well as Premier League know how.
However in three seasons he has not reached double figures in the top flight, and last year scored just seven times – only more more than Gayle managed.
