Former Newcastle United striker says draw with Aston Villa was a good result.
Mick Quinn – Newcastle United
Ahead of Newcastle United’s weekend match, former Toon striker Mick Quinn antagonised supporters of Aston Villa.
Fed up with hearing how Villa played a part in both Newcastle’s relegations in 2009 and 2016, Quinn commented on Twitter last week that he could not wait for his old side to record a win over their Championship rivals.
Quinn also bit back at Villa fans who had given him both barrels in response, urging them to focus on their team instead.
At the weekend Villa held Newcastle United to a 1-1 draw, with Aaron Tshibola’s late equaliser cancelling out a Tommy Elphick own goal.

Quinn briefly addressed the result on Twitter, along with those of his other former clubs, commenting that he still regarded a draw away from home as a good result, as much as he would have loved Newcastle to rack up a win.
The way Villa fought back to claim the draw will have given them satisfaction, but it was the home side which needed a win more than Newcastle.
Newcastle are in the play-off spots, in fifth place with the Championship’s best goal difference, four points off leaders Norwich City.
Villa meanwhile are in 17th position, with a disappointing nine points from nine games.
