Swansea City and Aston Villa parted company with their managers on Monday.

Di Matteo was sacked by Aston Villa only 124 days after being appointed.

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Preston North End pretty much sealed the Italian’s fate after the Villans – who spent over £50 million in the summer – had won just one of their first 11 Championship games of the season.

Aston Villa are 19th in the Championship, 10 points from the top six, 13 from the top two and three points above the relegation zone.

Swansea, meanwhile, are hardly ripping up the Premier League, with the South-Welsh club 17th in the table after picking up four points from a possible

Mick Quinn has reacted on Twitter to both dismissals, and the ex-Newcastle man says that neither casualty can have much complaint over the decision.

There may be an argument for Guidolin, given that he was only seven games into the season, and one of Swansea’s four points was holding Chelsea to a draw, but there is very little defence for Di Matteo.
