Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott is beginning to make strides on the international stage.

Mick McCarthy has urged Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott to push him in selecting him for the Republic of Ireland’s up and coming international fixtures.
The ROI boss made the bold move in including the 17-year-old in his senior squad for the up and coming Euro 2020 qualifier against Denmark, and for the friendly against New Zealand, which will take place four days before that crunch match.
Parrott has been on the tip of a senior call by McCarthy as he could potentially find himself making his debut for his home country when they take on New Zealand later on this month.
Ahead of those matches, McCarthy confirmed that Parrott makes the cut for those games, as he seemingly suggested that if he impresses in training then he will get some minutes under his belt.
“I will announce the final squad for the friendly with New Zealand and the European Championship qualifier with Denmark on Thursday but I can confirm that Troy will be on the list,” McCarthy told ROI’s official website.
“I spoke to Stephen Kenny at our monthly manager’s meeting in Abbotstown on Monday and told him that Troy and Aaron Connolly will be with the senior squad next week.
“Troy has been pushing for this step-up for some time now and I look forward to seeing him on the training ground ahead of the New Zealand game. I hope he pushes me to include him in that game.”

Parrott has played some minutes for Spurs this season and has also on occasions been selected for Mauricio Pochettino’s matchday squads.
But he has the chance to showcase his talent on the international stage because if he can put in a strong performance or even score a goal then it won’t just help kick start his international career, but the calls for him to be used by Pochettino more will get louder.
Either way, Parrott has a bright future ahead of him, and at Spurs, he has the perfect player to look up to in Harry Kane.
