Sunderland are in the search for a new manager, but Mick McCarthy doesn’t want it.

Speaking to Five Live, Mick McCarthy has ruled out a sensational return to Sunderland this summer.
The Black Cats are searching for a new manager after Chris Coleman resigned following Sunderland’s relegation into League One last month.
The 59-year-old is on the job hunt himself after parting company with Ipswich Town, after six years at Portman Road.
The former Republic of Ireland manager previously spent three years at the Stadium of Light, but McCarthy reveals to Five Live that he isn’t interested in a return – despite one stranger’s wishes.

He said: “The cleaner saw me and did a double take. He said ‘are you Mick McCarthy? You’re after the Sunderland job aren’t you?’
“I said ‘I’m not actually. I’m going to see a friend and pick a car up’.
“He said ‘I don’t believe you, you’re going for the Sunderland job’. So he walked off and came back and said ‘I’ve had 100 quid on at 11/8’.”
Stewart Donald is still waiting to complete his takeover of Sunderland it is hoped that a new era will bring success to the North-East club.
McCarthy, who also had a successful six years with Wolves, would have been a fantastic figurehead to lead the Wearsiders’ resurgence, but he seems adamant that he isn’t keen on the role,
