Some West Bromwich Albion fans have already raised concerns about appointing the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager, who is leaving Ipswich Town this summer.

Mick McCarthy, manager of Ipswich looks on prior to the Carabao Cup Second Round match between Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park on August 22, 2017 in London, England.

Odds on Mick McCarthy becoming the next West Bromwich Albion manager have shortened from 12/1 to 6/1 after Sky Bet added the departing Ipswich Town boss to its market for the Hawthorns position.

McCarthy’s summer exit was announced on Thursday, after approaching six years at Ipswich.

And he has already been linked with a move to West Brom, whose local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers were managed by the 59-year-old between 2006 and 2012.

The Daily Mail reported last month that the Baggies could add McCarthy to their list of potential appointments, should they part with Alan Pardew, prompting concern within the club’s fanbase.

Pardew is increasingly unlikely to be kept on by Albion, who sit 10 points adrift of safety with seven Premier League games remaining.

The 56-year-old has only won one of his 17 games in charge of West Brom.

Leicester caretaker Manager Michael Appleton reacts during the Premier League match between Swansea City and Leicester City at Liberty Stadium on October 21, 2017 in Swansea, Wales.

Sky Bet has former Albion midfielder Michael Appleton (3/1) as favourite to succeed him, ahead of Marco Silva (9/2), McCarthy, 8/1 shots Dean Smith and Paul Cook – another with Wolves ties.

Ex-Baggies Nigel Pearson and Derek McInnes are 9/ and 10/1 respectively.

Should West Brom consider the departing Ipswich – and former Wolves – manager?
