Tottenham Hotspur and Christian Eriksen will be preparing for the Champions League final which takes place this Saturday in Madrid.
Mick McCarthy has stated that Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen is a ‘top player’ and it doesn’t matter what frame of mind he will be in after the Champions League final.
The Republic of Ireland manager will be preparing his team for a Euro 2020 qualifying clash against Eriksen’s home nation of Denmark next Friday.
Before Eriksen can even think about that, he will take part in Spurs’ Champions League final as it remains to be seen whether he’ll be available for his country the following week.
Speaking to Off the Ball’s official YouTube account, McCarthy is well aware of the talent Eriksen has regardless of what frame of mind he is going to be in after the match.
On whether it’s an advantage that Eriksen is playing a CL final five days before Denmark play ROI: “Only if somebody clumps him, I guess,” McCarthy told Off the Ball. “
“If Eriksen comes in with that [winning] frame of mind and that form then we could be in trouble. If he loses it, I don’t know. He’s just a top player. We’ll have to deal with him, whatever happens.”
Playmaker Eriksen has caused Ireland major problems before and he will be looking to do the same again if he plays against them next Friday.
But, at this moment in time, he will be preparing for the biggest game of his career where a win will write Tottenham’s name into the history books.
However, before they can do that, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who were beaten in last season’s Champions League final, stand in their way of glory.
