Tottenham duo should be sold in January to make room for new faces.

For fringe players, cup competitions present a lifeline.
There was no beacon of hope extended last night to Tottenham duo Michel Vorm and Fernando Llorente.
They were not involved in Tottenham’s win over Arsenal, despite some rotation being evidenced, some necessary and partly through choice.
Last night’s win for Tottenham was achieved without either Vorm or Llorente and showed why both should be free to leave the club in January.
In goal Tottenham rested Hugo Lloris and selected Paulo Gazzaniga,
Gazzaniga has overtaken Vorm in the pecking order at Spurs after a series of poor displays from the Dutchman when he was called upon at the start of the season.
The Argentine was excellent again and demonstrated that he has a firm grip on the number two job.
Vorm’s contract expires in the summer and Spurs clearly have no reason to keep him around until then.

Fernando Llorente has made no secret of the fact he desires to return to Spain when his deal expires in the summer.
He was ignored last night by Mauricio Pochettino, despite Harry Kane being deemed unwell enough to start the game.
Heung-Min Son was preferred to start the game up front in his place, and he repaid his manager by scoring the opening goal.

Llorente played in the early rounds of the Carabao Cup but as the competition reaches the latter stages, there’s no need for the Spaniard.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear he intends to trim the squad before he can buy.
He may have sealed the fates of Vorm and Llorente last night and Spurs should be looking to move them on in January.
