West Ham United were beaten 2-0 by Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
West Ham United winger Michail Antonio has told the club’s official website they could sense it was not going to be their day against Everton.
The Hammers travelled to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon looking to make it three straight wins in the Premier League.
It proved to be a disappointing afternoon for them, though, as goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley gave the home side a 2-0 victory.
In truth, it was an unfortunate result for Slaven Bilic’s side after they had dominated for periods in the first half.
And Antonio has revealed to the club’s official website that he and his teammates could sense that the game would not go their way.
“These things happen in football,” he said. “We have got to pick ourselves and go again.”
“We could sense it was not going to be our day. Things were not coming off for us but we still put in a good performance and kept fighting until the end.”
The game once again saw Lukaku finding the back of the net against the Hammers, continuing his fine recent record against the club.
The Belgian striker now has seven goals in his last seven Premier League games against the London club.
That tally is just one short of the division record held by Robin van Persie, who managed eight in eight games against Stoke City.
Lukaku has the chance to level that record when Everton take on West Ham at the London Stadium in April next year and Antonio says they must find a way to stop him.
“We need to try and find a way of stopping Lukaku. We just have to pay more attention towards him and stop him scoring in the next game,” he added.
