Michail Antonio has said that after it was made official that Roberto Firmino was set to depart Liverpool, he thinks the decision must have been met in a variety of ways by fans.

While some may have wished the Brazilian international the best in his future endeavours, the others must have been critical of him, as per the West Ham United striker.

In the Reds’ latest 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp did say that he was stunned by how vocal the support was for him after he scored late into the contest, which proves how adored he remains.

However, Michail Antonio said that after Roberto Firmino decided to bid farewell to Liverpool, opinions may be divided within the fanbase.

Michail Antonio says Roberto Firmino exit may split opinion amongst Liverpool fans

The £20 million (Sky Sports) man, who is being linked with a move to the MLS has achieved legendary status as Anfield, as he was part of the club’s greatest ever front 3 alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in their golden period in the Premier League era.

However, Michail Antonio explained why some fans may not be the biggest fans of Roberto Firmino on the Footballers’ Football Podcast.

“There are still fans who are going to say, ‘he’s a snake, he should stay.’ Even though he hasn’t played as much this season, some fans who really like him will be saying he’s a snake for leaving and he should be a squad player.”

“And there will be other fans saying, ‘he’s rubbish, we should have got rid of him years ago. Then there will be people in the middle saying, ‘go flourish and enjoy your career.’ You’re always going to get 3 different ways people are going to go.”

While Michail Antonio may be right, in general, Roberto Firmino is a Liverpool fan favourite and the news of his exit has palatably saddened the fanbase.
