West Ham United's Michail Antonio

West Ham ace Michail Antonio sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and raved about his teammate Declan Rice, choosing the 20-year-old as his player of the season.

Rice has been quite simply superb for the Hammers this season, nailing down the deep-lying midfield position as his own, and he is widely regarded as one of the best young players in the league.

The former Chelsea academy graduate was rewarded for his fine form for West Ham with a call-up to the England national team in March, where he went on to make two appearances for Gareth Southgate’s side.

And Antonio offered high words of praise for Hammers ace Rice during an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, responding when asked to name his player of the season:

“Declan Rice. It’s just his second season but he has been a regular in the team in midfield. He’s still so young and he’s been unbelievable for us. It was going to be him or Lukasz Fabianski, but I’m going to go for Dec.”

Rice recently signed a new contract that will keep him at West Ham until the summer of 2024, and Hammers fans will be hoping that the talented youngster remains at the London Stadium for his entire career.

He really is a truly elite talent, and West Ham must surely prove that they can match his ambition, if he is to remain in east London for the foreseeable future.
