West Ham United have been shrouded in chaos in recent weeks.
West Ham United winger Michail Antonio has told the club’s official website that he wants the fans to keep believing in the players amid recent protests.
The latest international break is upon us, and the Hammers took advantage of the break to take part in a friendly match against Dagenham and Redbridge on Wednesday night, aiding the cash-strapped non-league club with a fundraising game.
West Ham unsurprisingly ran out 3-1 winners, as winger Michail Antonio bagged a brace to put David Moyes’ men 2-0 up, and whilst Mason Bloomfield pulled one back for the Daggers, Jordan Hugill added a third for West Ham.
That should help West Ham fit and firing before the Premier League’s return next week, and the Hammers need all the help they can get right now after a miserable couple of weeks.
Earlier this month, West Ham were thrashed 3-0 at home by Burnley, and fans staged protests and even pitch invasions during the game as they continue to voice their anger at the club’s board.
David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady are all being targeted by fans over the club’s move to the London Stadium, with many believing that the move from Upton Park hasn’t improved the club at all.
The problem for West Ham is that they now lie just two points clear of the relegation zone, and that negative feeling in the stands may well transfer onto the pitch, just as it did against Burnley.
Now, winger Antonio has offered fans a message; ‘don’t give up on us’. Antonio has told the club’s official website wants to see fans supporting the club, stating that they will get out of the situation together both on and off the pitch.
“The message is ‘Don’t give up on us’ as in the situation we’re in, we’re going to need them,” said Antonio. “It’s not just us or just them in this situation, we’re all in this situation together so we’ll keep fighting and keep pushing together,” he added.
