Michail Antonio may have blown his opportunity to impress West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini.
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has now had the opportunity to take a real look at the players in his squad and a number of them have wasted the chance to make a good first impression.
The Hammers lost all four Premier League matches prior to the international break, meaning they are under immense pressure from supporters when they travel to Everton next.
One man that should have been delighted with a fresh start under Pellegrini is attacker Michail Antonio, who saw last season disrupted by a number of injuries.
But he’s had a poor start to the new campaign and is wasting the chance to become a regular starter.
The 28-year-old winger has started three of the four league matches, but has hardly threatened the goal and looked well off the pace.
He has proven in the past he can be a major player for West Ham, but has been on the decline and it would be no surprise to see him left out of the starting XI more regularly now by Pellegrini.
West Ham paid £7million (Daily Mail) to sign Antonio back in 2015 and he looks a shadow of the player that initially became a fan favourite for his consistent displays, which were full of high energy and mazy dribbles.
There is now serious competition in wide areas at the London Stadium, as the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass are battling alongside him.
