Michail Antonio has confirmed that exit talks from West Ham United are underway.

Michail Antonio has confirmed West Ham exit talks are on

The £85,000-a-week striker must be frustrated after starting a mere nine Premier League games for David Moyes’ side this season.

Since the arrival of Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, the Jamaican international’s game time has seen an expected decline.

As a result, one can see why Michail Antonio, at 32 years of age has initiated exit talks from West Ham United.

“Honestly, I’ve not ruled anything out. That’s all I can say. Nothing has been ruled out. There are talks, so whatever happens, happens”, he told the Footballers’ Football Podcast, as relayed by CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

Registering a mere two goals and two assists in the league this campaign, Antonio has also been far from his best for the Hammers.

But that is natural for the marksman, considering he made 34 league starts in the 2021/2022 season in contrast.

West Ham United fans could well be disappointed to discover that Michail Antonio is in exit talks, considering he remains a club legend after becoming their all-time top scorer in the Premier League last term.

It’s time for Antonio to move on

At 32 years of age, it is certainly not advisable for a Premier League-proven goalscorer such as Antonio to be warming the bench.

A whole host of clubs lack a natural striker to put the ball into the back of the net for them in the English top-flight, for whom the Irons icon would be perfectly suited to.

The initiative taken by Michail Antonio to hold exit talks from West Ham is a positive career step.

Now, one hopes that whether he stays or leaves the club, the experienced forward gets regular playing time.
