Michail Antonio suggests West Ham United can depend on him to score goals in the run-in.

Michail Antonio has told West Ham United’s official website that he has the goals in him to keep his team-mates in the Premier League this season.

The Irons are two points above the relegation zone but their form is a major concern.

David Moyes’s side have shipped 11 goals in their last three Premier League games, scoring twice, and the 3-0 defeat by Burnley last time out is a cause for even bigger concern.

Antonio, a £7 million signing under Slaven Bilic in 2015, scored in the defeats by Swansea and Liverpool.

And the 28-year-old winger, who managed 18 goals in 52 Premier League outings for the Hammers before this season, believes that he can be the hero that the club needs over the coming weeks.

He told the club’s website: “I feel I’ve got the goals in me to keep West Ham up.

“I’ve got nine goals in each of the last two seasons and this season hasn’t been going well for me as I’ve had quite a few injuries, but I’ve come back now and scored two goals in the league and got a couple today, so hopefully I can keep pushing forward.”

Moyes’s troops visit fellow relegation candidates Southampton on Saturday week in what is probably their biggest game of the season.

Victory could see them go five points clear of the bottom three, though defeat would only reinforce the idea that relegation is very much on the cards.
