West Ham United have endured a difficult campaign so far this season.
West Ham ace Michail Antonio sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared how there was a bad vibe emanating from the football club before they jetted off for a mid-season training camp in Miami last week.
The Hammers currently sit precariously in 17th spot in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the drop zone, and relegation down to the Championship seems to be a very real prospect for them this season.
Antonio has not been himself this season, and has been a shadow of the player that he was over the previous two campaigns with West Ham, chalking up just three goals and one assist in 20 Premier League appearances thus far, although injuries have certainly played their part.
The 27-year-old spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and shared how his team’s mid-season training camp in Miami was exactly what they needed:
“Every day you come to training, you can come in and not really speak to players and there was be a bad vibe going around as we’re not winning games. The gaffer thought to take us away and change the mood, get a bit of sun into our systems and play a couple of bonding games and then we could come back and kick forward.”
Next up for the Hammers is a crucial home game against Southampton on March 31st, and they will be under real pressure to win the match, with the Saints sitting just below them in the Premier League table.
