Sheffield Wednesday’s disappointing run of form in the Championship continued on Saturday afternoon, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Birmingham City away from home.

Wednesday actually took the lead against Birmingham at St Andrew’s through Steven Fletcher, but the home side launched a strong comeback thereafter.

Goals from Connor Mahoney, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams saw Garry Monk’s side pick up all three points from the encounter.

The defeat to Birmingham means that the Owls are now 15th in the Championship table with 19 points from 15 matches, six points behind Derby County, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Wednesday are still in the running for the Championship playoffs, but it is clear that manager Jos Luhukay’s need to improve.

Former England international cricketer Michael Vaughan is a well-known Wednesday fan, and he seems to have suggested on social networking site Twitter two potential candidates to replace Luhukay as the Owls’ boss – former Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy and ex-Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce.
