Former England international cricketer Michael Vaughan has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Sheffield Wednesday should appoint Sam Allardyce as their new manager.

Carlos Carvalhal is in charge of Wednesday at the moment, but the Owls’ performances and results so far this season have not been great.

Wednesday, who reached the Championship playoffs in each of the past two seasons, are as low as 12th in the league table at the moment.

The Owls have managed to pick up only 16 points from 12 matches, four fewer than Leeds United, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Carvalhal’s side won 3-0 against Leeds United at home in the league before the international break, but they went down 2-1 at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

Vaughan is a well-known Wednesday fan, and he has suggested that he would take former West Ham United and Newcastle United manager at the Hillsborough Stadium.

Allardyce is without a managerial job at the moment following his departure from Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
