Steve Bruce has agreed to become the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday, according to Michael Vaughan.

It had been widely reported that Wednesday were close to a deal to appoint the former Aston Villa boss as Jos Luhukay’s successor.

Vaughan also tweeted about Luhukay’s sacking – for which he cited the same source – hours before official confirmation emerged from Sheffield Wednesday on Friday.

The 57-year-old’s son, Alex, was part of the Wednesday side that gained promotion via the League One play-offs 13-and-a-half-years ago.
