Sheffield Wednesday missed a chance to close the gap on their rivals last night as they drew at home to Burton Albion.
Their draw at least kept the status quo with Wednesday remaining in sixth place, and maintaining a five point gap over seventh.
Fulham rescued a late draw against Leeds, ensuring they kept in touch with Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday fan Michael Vaughan, former England cricket captain, urged supporters to keep the faith despite the disappointment.
He also repeated his belief that Wednesday will go on to beat rivals Leeds United in the play-offs.
Vaughan did though have some praise for rivals Leeds United, praising the fans as 7,000 travelled to Fulham for last night’s 1-1 draw.
Leeds remain in fourth place, three points above Sheffield Wednesday.
Fulham in seventh place have a game in hand on the Owls, and Wednesday will continue to look nervously over their shoulders with just one win from their last four matches.
