Well-known Sheffield Wednesday fan Michael Vaughan has predicted on social networking site Twitter that Sheffield United will get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The former England international cricketer made the prediction following United’s 2-1 victory over Reading at home in the Championship at the weekend.

The win for Chris Wilder’s side at Bramall Lane means that the Blades are now third in the league table with 27 points from 13 matches.

United are level on points with second-placed Cardiff City and just two points behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers at the moment.

Vaughan believes that the Blades will get promoted from the Championship at the end of the season, just as Huddersfield Town did in 2016-17.

Huddersfield were the surprise package last season, as they found their way to the Premier League via the playoffs.

Vaughan has also given his verdict on Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal, suggesting that it is time for him to leave.

The Owls, who have finished in the top six of the Championship for the past two seasons, are as low as 16th in the standings at the moment with just 16 points from 13 matches.
