Sheffield Wednesday maintained their strong run of form in the Championship at the weekend. The Owls got the better of Nottingham Forest 2-1 away from home at the City Ground.

Wednesday headed into the match against Forest on the back of a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the Hillsborough Stadium.

Almen Abdi put the Owls in the lead against Forest on 28 minutes, and Fernando Forestieri doubled the advantage just seven minutes into the second half. Ben Osborn halved the deficit for the home team on the hour mark.

Former England international cricketer Michael Vaughan, who is a well-known Wednesday fan, was following the match, and he has made a bold claim about goalkeeper Keiren Westwood on Twitter.

Vaughan believes that the 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international is the best goalkeeper outside of the Premier League.

Wednesday are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 58 points from 32 matches.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Brentford at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship.
