Sheffield Wednesday’s disappointing run of form continued at the weekend. Wednesday went down 2-0 to Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls headed into the match against Villa on the back of a 1-1 draw with Burton Albion at the Hillsborough Stadium in the league.
Carlos Carvalhal’s side hammered Norwich City 5-1 at home at the start of the month, but they had ended February with back-to-back defeats to Brentford and Leeds United.
On Saturday afternoon, Jonathan Kodjia put Villa in the lead in the 34th minute, and added a second 11 minutes from full time.
Wednesday ended the game with 10 men due to the sending-off of Vincent Sasso just three minutes into the second half.
Former England international cricketer Michael Vaughan, who is a well-known Wednesday fan, was following the match on Saturday afternoon, and he admitted on social networking site Twitter that he is worried about the Owls.
Wednesday are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 62 points from 37 matches, just two points clear of seventh-placed Fulham, who have a game in hand.
