Glasgow Rangers have brought Sean Goss to Ibrox on loan until the end of the season.

Michael Stewart has told The Scottish Sun that Sean Goss probably has a better chance of proving why he is a former Manchester United trainee at Rangers than he would have with parent club Queens Park Rangers.

Goss became the Gers’ first signing of the January transfer window as he joined the Scottish Premiership side on loan for the rest of the season having struggled for game-time at Loftus Road this season.

While he may have struggled with the Championship side, he arrives at Ibrox with plenty of expectation on his shoulders having spent a number of years on United’s books earlier in his career. And while some may have their doubts regarding whether he may realise that potential with Rangers, Stewart – who also came through the ranks at Old Trafford – believes that the Rangers move may be exactly what he needs.

“QPR are his parent club but maybe Rangers — with their size and expectation levels — will suit him better,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“If you are a struggling club who are scrapping to stay in a league, then it can be difficult for you to display your qualities.

“But in a Rangers team that should have most of the ball in the majority of games, Goss has a better chance of showing exactly why he is a former Manchester United player.”

Given that he has made just six senior appearances during his career to date, there is surely an element of risk involved in signing the 22-year-old – even on loan.

But he will certainly have a point to prove during his time with the Gers as he looks to either make a statement to his parent club or put himself in the shop window for Rangers or another club to make a move in the summer.

And perhaps that time with United, and the pressure that comes with that, will boost his chances of capitalising on the opportunity after joining Rangers for the rest of the campaign.
