Do Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic need to sign another central defender in the January transfer window?

The Glasgow giants have secured the services of 32-year-old German defender Marvin Compper from German club RB Leipzig this month.
Former Manchester United and Hibernian midfielder Stewart has said that he would not be surprised if Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers signs another central defender in the January transfer window.

Stewart wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Brendan Rodgers has already moved to bring in Marvin Compper, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he adds another centre-half before the window closes.
“What happens with Moussa Dembele will also determine what they do at the top end of the pitch, so they will be making contingency plans to bring in another frontman if he leaves.
“Longer-term, I’m sure the Celtic boss is thinking about how he manages the transition from several of his older players.”

Celtic have a strong team and should be able to win the Scottish Premiership title with ease this season.
The Glasgow giants, though, do need to reinforce their squad in order to progress further in the Europa League this season and qualify for the 2018-19 Champions League campaign.
Defence is the main area that the Hoops need to address, and manager Rodgers could well be looking to sign another centre-back to his squad before the January transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Celtic central midfielder Callum McGregor has suggested that he wants Moussa Dembele to stay at the club.
According to The Scottish Sun, a number of clubs are keeping tabs on the Celtic striker.
McGregor told The Scottish Sun: “It’s obviously going to be a big draw for players like him. It’s just about him wanting to be here to kick on, work hard and be part of this group.
“When you feel part of a successful team that’s where you want to stay — you want to keep being successful.
“Obviously all the boys love him and want him to stay and be part of it. I don’t think he’ll be thinking of going anywhere.”
