Michael Stewart has spoken highly of Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo in The Scottish Sun.
The former Manchester United and Hibernian midfielder – who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport – believes that Aribo is one of the best signings made by any side, and can understand why Rangers manager Steven Gerrard signed him in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined Rangers on a free transfer following his departure from Charlton Athletic in England.
According to The Daily Mail, Celtic and Southampton also wanted to secure the services of the youngster before he made the move to Rangers.
Stewart wrote about Aribo in The Scottish Sun: “The kid is like a proper old-school midfielder in the same way his gaffer was.
“One minute he’ll drop deep and pick up the ball, the next he’s driving forward and pushing his team on.
“Having seen Aribo, right, a few times I can see why Gerrard was so keen to get in ahead of others to get him. He looks like one of the best pieces of business of any side this window.”
Good signing for Rangers
Aribo has been superb for Rangers and has established himself as a key figure in the Gers’ starting lineup.
The former Staines Town ace has scored three goals in six Europa League qualifiers for Rangers this campaign, and the 23-year-old has also played twice in the Scottish Premiership and once in the Scottish League Cup, according to WhoScored.
The midfielder has hit the ground running at Rangers, and the Ibrox faithful must be delighted with that.
