Pundit Michael Stewart has told BBC Sport’s Sportscene that he thinks Jamie Murphy already looks like a really good signing for Rangers.

The Gers travelled to Hamilton Academical in search of three more points on Sunday afternoon, and played their part in a topsy-turvy game at New Douglas Park.

Darren Lyon put Hamilton in front before Jamie Murphy and Josh Windass struck to give Rangers a 2-1 lead, only for David Templeton to equalise against his former club.

Alfredo Morelos bagged Rangers’ third before a Windass brace made it 5-2, with Dougie Imrie’s late penalty handing Hamilton a consolation in a 5-3 defeat for the hosts.

Rangers may have been a little slack defensively, but going forward they were irresistible – and winger Murphy deserves praise even with Windass bagging a hat-trick.

The January signing from Brighton enjoyed his best afternoon as a Rangers player on Sunday, not only scoring but also notching two assists as Hamilton simply couldn’t handle his movement or end product.

Now, pundit Michael Stewart has told BBC Sport’s Sportscene that he thinks Murphy is already looking like a ‘really good’ addition to the Rangers squad, claiming he was in top form against Hamilton.

Stewart added that Murphy and Windass combined to produce driving runs that Hamilton simply couldn’t handle, praising ‘very good’ play from Rangers in the final third thanks to those two players.

“When you look at the dynamic at the top end of the park, they’ve got energy, legs, and people who can put the ball in the back of the net,” said Stewart. “Jamie Murphy is looking like a really good acquisition, he was in top form, Windass as well. Hamilton didn’t track them, but those driving runs through the middle of the park from Windass and Murphy were very good play from Rangers, making it difficult for the opposition,” he added.
