Celtic recorded a 2-0 win over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup quarter-final on Saturday.
Michael Stewart has stated that there is ‘undoubtedly a frustration’ in regards to the talent and performances of Celtic ace Odsonne Edouard following his side’s 2-0 win over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup on Saturday evening.
Former Premiership player Stewart claims that Edouard at times showcases his ‘real quality’, but then he can frustrate in the performance he delivers for the team.
The 21-year-old started in behind the striker as his team progressed through to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup before he was pushed further forward by his manager Neil Lennon.
Speaking to Sportscene on BBC Scotland (02/03/2019 at 10:55 pm), Stewart was tearing his hair out at the lack of consistency in Edouard’s game.
“I think this game is pretty much systematic of his season so far,” Stewart told Sportscene. “There are moments where you can see he has real quality and then there are moments that there is undoubtedly a frustration because you can see the ability is there.
“I think he had plenty of moments you were expecting something about to happen and it didn’t come off. And then once when he went through the middle, that’s his favourite position, he certainly looked a greater threat.”
In the game itself, James Forrest opened the scoring after 62 minutes with a well-placed shot from outside of the area before Scott Brown unleashed a thunderous effort 15 minutes before time.
Edouard supplied an assist in the game and at times he proved his worth, but there were occasions when it just wouldn’t come off for him.
Over the course of the season, he has played 41 matches in all competitions for his side, scoring 17 goals and supplying his teammates with seven assists along the way [transfermarkt].
Neil Lennon’s Celtic, who are still on course to win the treble-treble, will turn their attention to the Premiership next Saturday when they take on Aberdeen.
