Hearts boss Craig Levein has criticised Rodgers after the Celtic boss said he would be “embarrassed” at the state of the Tynecastle pitch.
BBC Sportscene pundit Michael Stewart has sided with Craig Levein on Twitter after the Hearts manager criticised Brendan Rodgers for the Celtic manager’s comments on the state of the Tynecastle pitch.
Former Liverpool manager Rodgers said he would be “embarrassed” about the length of the grass at Tynecastle following Celtic’s impressive 3-1 win in Edinburgh.
Levein reacted by criticising Rodgers despite seeing his Hearts side lose 3-1, quoted by BBC Sport as saying: “He can moan [but] it will be the same again next season.
Former Hearts midfielder and BBC pundit Stewart reacted to Levein’s attack on Rodgers on Twitter, defending Levein by stating that it is the Hearts manager’s choice how he wants his pitch.
Kyle Lafferty gave Hearts the lead in the 18th minute with a crashing half-volley that flew past goalkeeper Scott Bain. However, the Hoops turned the game on its head thanks to goals from Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair.
Celtic are on course to land their second successive treble under Rodgers this season, after already claiming the Scottish League Cup and the League title. They face Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final on May 19.
