Smith plays with Davis – currently on loan at Rangers from Premier League club Southampton – for the Northern Ireland national football team.
The 30-year-old former Peterborough United defender believes that Davis is a very good player, and that the 34-year-old ex-Aston Villa midfielder is now starting to settle in at Rangers.
Smith told The Scottish Sun: “He’s a cracking player and he’s now starting to settle in and play his football there now.
“He is a great guy on and off the pitch. He’s also a great captain for Northern Ireland. In terms of ability, he’s one of the best I’ve ever played with.
“It’s taken him a little time to adjust after coming from the English Premier League, but he’s now back in really good form.”

Davis joined Rangers on loan from Southampton in the January transfer window for what is his second spell at Ibrox.
The midfielder initially struggled to make a huge impact at Ibrox, but the 34-year-old has been playing well for Steven Gerrard’s side in recent weeks.
According to WhoScored, the former Fulham midfielder has made seven starts and four substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season.
Davis recently told Sky Sports that he wants to make his loan deal at Rangers permanent, and that he has had conversations regarding a contract.
