Michael Owen seems to rate Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane highly.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has praised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in The Times.

The former England international believes that Kane, who is one of the best strikers in the Premier League, is the benchmark this season.

The 24-year-old scored 29 goals in 29 starts in the Premier League last season and 25 goals in 38 starts in the league during the 2015-16 campaign.

Owen has claimed that Kane is an all-round football player who has no weaknesses.

“He has scored a bucket load of goals, all different types, with his left foot, right foot, and his head,” Owen wrote about Kane in The Times. “He is a big, strong lad. The Londoner is the complete modern day No 9.”

“He is the benchmark this season,” added Owen. “The England man is very much an all-rounder: he has no weaknesses. He is not mind-blowingly fast, but he is no slouch either. He is eight or nine out of ten in every department.”

Meanwhile, the agent of Luke Shaw has suggested to IBTimes UK that the defender will not leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to The Daily Record, United could offer Shaw to Tottenham in order to sign left-back Danny Rose in the summer transfer window.

However, the 22-year-old left-back’s agent has suggested that the England international will not leave Old Trafford this summer.

“Luke Shaw is going to be one of the best left-backs in the world,” Shaw’s representative Jonathan Barnett told IBTimes UK. “Manchester United love him and Luke Shaw loves Manchester United.”

Shaw is a good left-back and is hugely talented, but his time at United has been severely affected by injury and fitness issues.

It is hard to see Spurs sell Rose in the summer transfer window, and it is equally tough to imagine the North London outfit willing to sign Shaw as he would struggle to make an instant impact.
