What an unbelievable evening it was for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.
The Brazilian popped up with a last-minute winner as Liverpool beat West Brom 2-1 at the Hawthorns to breathe new life into their Champions League qualification hopes.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had been frustrated for most of the game since Mohamed Salah cancelled out the Baggies’ early opener.
Finishing in the top four was in Liverpool’s hands prior to kickoff, which underlines what a disaster these two dropped points would’ve been.
But Alisson, who lost his father earlier this year due to a tragedy, produced a brilliant last-gasp header which nestled into the corner of the net.
An emotional Alisson pointed to the sky in memory of his father and former Liverpool hitman Michael Owen has admitted that he wasn’t optimistic when he saw the big man coming up for the corner.
He told Premier League productions: “If only you’d heard what I said before! I was wondering why he was going up. I was saying why is a goalkeeper going up? How have I eaten my words. What a fabulous header it was.”
Consequence of this massive win, the Reds have moved one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea and three points behind Leicester in third.
And fascinatingly, both of those sides play one another next week and with one guaranteed to drop points, it gives Liverpool – whose last two games are away to Burnley and home to Crystal Palace – a huge chance of sneaking Champions League qualification.
