Michael Owen has claimed that Liverpool’s ‘phenomenal’ duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson wouldn’t have the same impact for another team, as he told Premier League Productions (05/03/22 at 7:40 pm).
The former striker shared that Liverpool’s whole team is set up for Alexander-Arnold and Robertson to play in the manner that best suits them.
Liverpool’s creative magic comes from their flanks, whilst their workman-like midfield suffocates the opposition and ensures they are allowed to tick elsewhere.
Added with that, when you have a player like Virgil van Dijk at the back, then you can leave the Dutch international on his own with anyone and he will always do the job.
But Owen feels that, in another system, the assist machines that deploy Liverpool’s wide areas would seemingly produce different results.
“They are phenomenal in what they do,” said Owen. “Absolutely phenomenal.
“But they have the most incredible team. That team sets up for two fullbacks like they are.
“If you put Trent and Robbo in a different team, you would see totally different players and you wouldn’t see effective players also.
“But when you have got players like Virgil van Dijk, Matip, Konate or Fabinho, who sits there. When you have Henderson that every time Trent goes forward, he fills in. The whole team literally do everything for them. It’s unbelievable.”

Well, under Jurgen Klopp’s system, both Alexander-Arnold and Robertson can rightfully put their names up in lights as some of the world’s best.
The level of performances they have produced for Liverpool over the years has been extraordinary and they have Premier League titles and Champions League medals to prove it.
But, heading into these final few months of the season, they will be hoping to add a few more to their name.
After winning the League Cup last week, the Reds will now have their eyes set on the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
