Michael Owen has suggested on Betvictor.com that Newcastle United need to stop Mohamed Salah if they are to get anything from the match against Liverpool this weekend.

Newcastle will take on Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Salah is likely to start for the Reds, who will head into the match as strong favourites and are the better team.

The 25-year-old winger has scored 23 goals and provided eight assists in 25 Premier League starts for Liverpool so far this season.

Former Liverpool and Newcastle striker Owen, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport, believes that for the Magpies to get anything at Anfield, they need to stop Salah, who joined the Reds from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be £34 million.

Owen wrote on Betvictor.com: “Mo Salah has scored in his last six games for the Reds in all competitions and United need to stop the Egyptian if they are to get a positive result against this exciting Liverpool side.”

One should not be surprised if the former Chelsea winger bags a couple of goals against Rafael Benitez’s side at Anfield on Saturday evening.
