The former England international, one of the best strikers to have played in the Premier League also does not seem to believe that Kane is the best goalscorer in the English top flight, underlining Sergio Aguero’s heroics for Manchester City.
Owen said on the Saturday Morning Savage show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning (11:50am, November 24, 2018) when asked if Kane is the best goalscorer in the world: “No, I would say not. There’s so much competition out there.
“I mean, is he the best goalscorer in the Premier League? Aguero is an unbelievable finisher.
“Don’t get me wrong. He is right up there in the top echelon, but you are talking Ronaldo, Messi.”
Star striker
Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and has consistently scored goals for the past four or so seasons.
There is no doubt that the England international is one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League, but the 25-year-old striker still needs to do it in the Champions League.
Of course, it is not fault that Tottenham are not exactly among the Champions League elite and do not progress to the latter rounds of the competitions.
However, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski have been scoring goals consistently in Europe for years, and Kane has to do that.
