Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has been keen to praise one current player who has excelled for the Anfield club since he moved to Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp has departed Liverpool this summer with former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot set to take over the reins from the German.
The Dutchman will be tasked with trying to win the Premier League title for Liverpool with Klopp winning the league just once during his time at the club in 2020.
It is unclear how much the Reds will spend this summer but there is one player that Michael Owen believes could be vital next season.

Owen on ‘talented player’
Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, the former English striker believes that Luis Diaz is a very talented player for Liverpool.
“I remember seeing him for the first time and thinking, ‘He is made for that Liverpool red shirt’,” Owen said.
“The energy, the enthusiasm. I have got nothing but admiration for him. He is a very, very talented player.”
Since moving to the club, the Colombian has 16 Premier League goals for the Reds but will hope to improve on this under Slot.
Back in January of 2022, Diaz joined the Reds from FC Porto for a fee in the region of £37 million and he has blown hot and cold for the Reds since then.
Diaz’s future
With Slot coming in, it is unclear what the future holds for the Colombian winger with the club potentially embarking on another rebuild under a different manager.
HITC have reported that Diaz is keen on a new contract at the club but Liverpool are understood to be prioritising the renewal of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Virgil Van Dijk is also seeking a new contract at Anfield. Diaz has struggled in the Premier League but the Colombian could excel under a new manager.
