West Ham United signed Robert Snodgrass from Hull City, despite competition from Middlesbrough.
Michael Owen has told BT Sport’s Premier League Show, which was broadcast on 25th February, that he cannot blame Robert Snodgrass for picking West Ham United over Middlesbrough.
Snodgrass was linked with both West Ham and Middlesbrough in the January transfer window, with the pair both trying to sign the Scotland international from Hull City.
The 29-year-old ended up picking to move to the London Stadium, and Owen believes that Snodgrass made the correct decision.
“If I was Snodgrass I’d have wanted to go to West Ham rather than Middlesbrough,” the former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United striker said. “It’s in London, they’re scoring goals, they’re midway up the league and an attacking team.”

Snodgrass has been used regularly at West Ham already, and he has made four appearances since joining Bilic’s side.
The ex Leeds winger is yet to score for West Ham, but he has still made a largely encouraging start to life at the London club.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, have continued to struggle for goals since the January transfer window.
There was a feeling that Snodgrass would have increased the potency of Boro’s attack, but his decision to move to West Ham could now prove crucial in the relegation battle.
Middlesbrough are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table, and are looking nervously over their shoulder, with a number of teams hot on their heels.
