Michael Owen has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Liverpool finishing in the Premier League top four this season.

Liverpool have ended the season in third place with 69 points from 38 matches.

The Merseyside club, who won the Premier League title last season, secured their place in the Champions League with a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace at Anfield today.

Sadio Mane scored both the goals for the Reds.

Former Liverpool striker Owen has praised Jurgen Klopp’s side for their late charge.

Just a few weeks ago, it appeared that Liverpool would not finish in the top four.

However, the Reds made a great charge in the final weeks of the campaign.

Liverpool fans will feel relieved that the team will play in the Champions League next season.

It would have been a massive disappointment had the Reds not been able to end up in the top four.

It has not been a great season for Liverpool, but they still ended up only five points behind second-placed and bitter rivals Manchester United.

Just imagine what Liverpool could have had done had Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip not been injured for months…
