Leeds United purportedly ‘spied’ on Derby County before Friday’s clash.

Michael Owen has sided with Leeds United over the ‘spygate’ fiasco.
Leeds’ 2-0 win over Derby County on Friday was overshadowed by allegations of spying in the build up to the clash at Elland Road.
Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa admitted that he instructed somebody to visit Derby’s training ground on Thursday in what is believed to have been an attempt to gain a tactical advantage.
The Argentine took full responsibility for the incident but it irked plenty of Derby supporters and manager Frank Lampard nonetheless.
Bielsa claims that such things have been common practice throughout his lengthy career, and Premier League legend Michael Owen agrees that it’s far more common than presently recognised.
Controversy aside, it was one of United’s best performances of the season and although there’s a temptation to believe that Bielsa had inside knowledge of Lampard’s pre-match plan, the result probably would’ve been the same.
Bielsa’s side, who had lost their last three games, are top of the Championship by five points.
