Michael Owen said Arsenal’s win over Manchester City was deserved, even if it proved him wrong.
Former England footballer Michael Owen says he feels Arsenal’s win at Manchester City was deserved, he told Sportlobster.
The striker admitted his surprise at the result, a match in which he had predicted a home win for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
He had said in his BetVictor predictions column that returning stars like Sergio Aguero would see City prove too strong.
He said: “It has been a predictable week in The Premier League until now. Always love watching City play but Arsenal have deserved this win. Cazorla has been brilliant today.”
Aguero instead was ineffective as Arsenal’s defence stood strong, with goals from Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud ensuring a win.
City dominated possession with 62 per cent, and had more shots at goal with 12 to nine, managing only four on target.
Arsenal are in fifth place as a result of the win, the same position Owen predicted them to finish in this season, speaking to London24 back in August.
The victory away at City is a real game-changer for the Gunners confidence-wise, having lost a succession of games away to their top four rivals over the past two seasons. There is every reason to believe after this momentous win that Arsenal can prove another Owen prediction very wrong.
