The Arsenal midfielder impressed the pundit and former striker against San Marino.

Michael Owen was impressed by Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during England’s 6-0 win over San Marino on Saturday evening.

Indeed, the former England striker and current commentator & pundit was impressed with the Ox’s role during Ross Barkley’s second-half goal for the Three Lions.

And Owen says it’s good to see the 22-year-old running at people, something the Gunners faithful no doubt appreciate too when Oxlade-Chamberlain is at his best.

The end of Owen’s message stated that Wayne Rooney’s run created space for Barkley.

But his praise of the Arsenal man was most telling and Oxlade-Chamberlain certainly delivered an impressive performance against San Marino.

As Opta stats show, Oxlade-Chamberlain has actually averaged the lowest number of minutes per successful dribble of any Premier League player so far this season (of players who have played a significant number of minutes).

The Arsenal man wins a dribble every 17 minutes on average and Owen will certainly be impressed if he hears that.

The issue for the Ox, of course, when it comes to both England and Arsenal, is whether the 22-year-old can stay fit enough for long periods to make a sustained impact.
