“I really fear for Newcastle this season and the signs from manager Rafa Benitez aren’t good,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Rafa doesn’t sound happy with the club’s hierarchy and he looks a fair price at 4/1 with BetVictor to be the first manager to walk this season.

“I expect the Magpies to struggle at the Liberty Stadium, with Paul Clement doing brilliant work in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

“Both Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony look great additions to the Swans’ squad and they can make an immediate impact for the South Wales club at the weekend.”

A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Swansea to win at 29/20.”

Swansea are 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with just four points from three matches.

The Swans were involved in the relegation dogfight last season, and one suspects that the Welsh outfit will be fighting for survival in the top flight of English football.

Newcastle are currently 14th in the standings with three points from as many matches.

The Magpies won automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season.

Rafael Benitez’s side are also expected to be among the clubs struggling to avoid the dreaded drop to the second tier of English football come May.
