Former Stoke striker Owen believes that Mark Hughes’s side will pick up all three points from the encounter at the Bet365 Stadium.

“The Potters have only been ahead for 17 minutes so far this PL season but I think that might change in this game between the sides currently propping up the division,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Mark Hughes’ side might have been a shade fortunate to escape from Old Trafford with a point last time but they were due a bit of luck and can gain a first PL win of the season.”

A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Stoke to win at Evens.”

Stoke are second from bottom in the Premier League table with just three points from seven matches.

The Potters are just a point behind 17th-placed Swansea City, but they need to put together a run of positive runs soon.

Hughes’s side will head into the match against Sunderland on the back of a 1-1 draw with Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Sunderland are also struggling at the moment and currently find themselves at the foot of the table.

The Black Cats have managed to pick up just two points from seven matches so far this season.
