Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that Celtic will win against Anderlecht in the Champions League this evening.

Scottish Premiership side Celtic will lock horns with Belgian outfit Anderlecht at Celtic Park in the Champions League in a few hours’ time.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are third in Group B at the moment with three points from five matches, while Anderlecht have yet to pick up a point.

The Glasgow giants will book their place in the round-of-32 stage of the Europa League this season if they avoid a three-goal defeat at the hands of Anderlecht at Celtic Park.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen has backed the Hoops to pick up all three points from the encounter against Anderlecht.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Motherwell at Celtic Park on December 2, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“Both sides have conceded 17 goals in their five group games to date but Celtic were comfortable winners of the reverse fixture and can do the double over the Belgians who must win by at least a three-goal margin to have any hope of making it through to the Europa League,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Anderlecht cannot sit back and defend and it is about time that Celtic – without a win in their last six Champions League games at Celtic Park – gave their home fans something to cheer about in European competition.”

A footnote added: “Tip: Celtic to win at 20/23.”

James Forrest of Celtic scores his teams fifth goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Motherwell at Celtic Park on December 2, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic will head into the match against Anderlecht as favourites, and the Glasgow giants should at least draw.

One player who will be important for the home team is 26-year-old winger James Forrest.

Forrest has been in great form for Celtic so far this season, and Rodgers has praised the Scotland international.

Rodgers has also suggested why the winger can look a bit languid – due to the number of matches he has played.

The Celtic manager told The Scottish Sun about Forrest: “He’s 26 now and you think he’s going into asset age at 28, 29. So, for me, he’s absolutely brilliant.

“Sometimes he maybe looks a wee bit languid, but that’s maybe because of the number of games he’s played.

“He’s got a lot of games in his legs and sometimes as a winger you can feel a bit leggy because you’re always the one who has to be direct and positive.”
