Swansea City and Sunderland will face each other in the Premier League this weekend.

Former Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that Gylfi Sigurdsson will score for Swansea City against Sunderland this weekend.

Swansea will take on Sunderland at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sigurdsson is likely to start the match for the Swans, and Owen has backed the Iceland international to score for the home team.

Iceland's Gylfi Sigurdsson reacts

The 27-year-old has scored four goals and created 19 chances in 14 league appearances for Swansea so far this season.

“The Swans have conceded nine goals in their last two PL games but I expect to see a much tighter, tense affair at the Liberty Stadium this weekend,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“After their, seemingly, perennial, slow start to the campaign the Black Cats have won three of their last four and I expect to see goals in a game too close to call.”

A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Gylfi Sigurdsson to score anytime at 6/4.”

Swansea are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just nine points from 14 matches.

The Swans are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Sunderland currently find themselves third from bottom in the league table with only 11 points from 14 matches.

The Black Cats are just a point behind 17th-placed West Ham United and seem to be in decent form.

David Moyes’s side have won three of their last four Premier League matches, including a 2-1 victory over defending English champions Leicester City at the Stadium of Light last weekend.
